Volunteer FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I volunteer?
If you're interested in becoming a Habitat for Humanity of Beaver County volunteer, head over to our Volunteer Page to discover all the ways you can help and to download and complete the Volunteer Interest form. Once we receive your completed form with your interests and availability, we'll schedule you for a volunteer workday.

You can also contact our office at 724-846-1630 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

How many people can volunteer in a group?
We can accommodate groups of 8-10 volunteers on our construction site and in our ReStore. If you have a group that is larger than 10, you may need to be scheduled for two different work days, or your group may need to be split up between the construction site and the ReStore. However, depending on the size of the group and the current projects, some allowances may be made.

Who may volunteer?
Our volunteer opportunities are open to people of all backgrounds, races, religions, and levels of experience. However, for safety and liability reasons, no one under the age of 16 is permitted on any Habitat Beaver County worksites. Volunteers under age 18 will need a parent or guardian to co-sign the volunteer waiver.

Please contact our office for volunteer opportunities for children under the age of 16.

Do I need to bring tools?
Feel free to bring work gloves if you have them, but we will provide everything you need on site.  However, if you do bring anything with you, be sure to have your name clearly marked on the item and that you keep track of it throughout the workday.  We are not responsible for volunteers' personal items.

Do I have to have construction skills to volunteer?
No! We need and welcome your help no matter how much experience you have. We will teach and guide you if you want to work on a build site, and there are many other volunteer opportunities that involve no construction. You can help out at one of our events, join a committee, help out at the office, or in our ReStore!

What do I need to wear or bring to a construction site?
Please wear weather and task appropriate clothing, boots or other hard-soled, closed-toe shoes. You can learn more about what you should and should not wear in our volunteer program information packet. You don’t need to bring anything with you except for a bag lunch and drink for your lunch break.

What if I need to cancel?
If you can't make it to your scheduled volunteer day, please contact us as soon as possible.  A forty-eight hour notice will allow us to fill your opening and re-assign any work tasks. Please remember, our volunteers are the cornerstone of all we do.  We're counting on you!
