everyone needs a safe and affordable place to call home
Habitat for Humanity of Beaver County is a non-profit organization that partners with people in our community to help them build a place they can call home. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Through our building program, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.

the importance of affordable housing
Did you know that in Beaver County, someone making minimum wage has to work 100 hours a week - equivalent to 2 and a half full time jobs - to be able to afford a two-bedroom apartment? And someone earning $14.25 an hour (the estimated mean renter wage in Beaver County) must work 51 hours a week to afford that same apartment.

The cost of housing is a heavy burden for low to moderate income families in our county. Habitat for Humanity of Beaver County is working to eliminate barriers to a better, healthier, more financially stable life through decent, affordable housing.
how we've helped
We've built 60 homes in Beaver County.
A decent place to live and an affordable mortgage give homeowners the opportunity to save more, invest in education, pursue more opportunities, and have more financial stability.
"Habitat has given us a sense of pride and accomplishment... not only in the fact that we are homeowners, but also because we helped to build our home. Even if we could get a traditional mortgage, we could never have been able to afford it.
Habitat has done something that no one else could - give us a HOME."
~ Michael & Mary Ann, Habitat Beaver County homeowners
how Habitat works
1. Families apply to own a Habitat home through our Homeownership program. To qualify, they must have a need for improved housing, a steady income, and be willing to partner with us. 2. Properties are donated to Habitat Beaver County through private donors or local municipalities. 3. Donors and sponsors contribute financial resources and materials that allow us to build safe, affordable homes with families in the program. 4. Future homeowners build their homes alongside volunteers and construction staff. They also complete financial management and home maintenance classes to prepare for homeownership. 5. Families in the program purchase their completed homes with an affordable, no interest, 30-year mortgage. 6. Each Habitat homeowner's mortgage payment is reinvested back into the program to help build more homes with other future Habitat Beaver County homeowners. |
